Traditional Schools Application Form
Principal's Message
During the past year the parents, students and staff at Heath spent time defining a new vision. The purpose of this was to decide as a community what was important to us, where we needed to go next, how we would get there, and what we should pay attention to on the way. Below is the result of this journey in words. Above is a visual representation of this journey.
Heath is a Flourishing Learning Community is now our central vision statement.
Our Purpose and Mission statements state that we (parents, students and staff) will:
- Continue to maintain a supportive and flourishing community
- Preserve positive, caring relationships
- Cultivate empowered, global learners
Our Values can be seen beside the following three organizational headings:
- Relationships - respect, mentors, inclusion, trust
- Community - safety, equity, equality, teamwork
- Learning - collaboration, global, curiosity, commitment
In addition to the visioning process described above, the Heath community (families and staff) was asked the following question in the Spring of 2011:
Should Heath become a Tradtional school beginning in September 2011?
The overwhelming answer was yes, and in May 2011, the Delta Board of Education voted to change our name. We are looking forward to all that both our new vision and our new traditional status will bring to our school this year. It truly does take a village to raise a child and by choosing to work positively together we can have a tremendous positive impact. I continue to believe that schools hold a special place in our community and am looking forward to working with all of you as the school year unfolds. Together, we can do great things.
Sincerely,
Dr. J. Lauman
Principal
